Living Well Network

Living Well Network

Living Well Network
In Lambeth, we believe that great support for people experiencing mental distress is to create lasting and sustainable support in their own communities and networks. We are growing the Living Well Network as a way to create a different, better and more co-productive way of working to support those experiencing mental illness.

Turning the system on its head
We want to move from a crisis focused system to one that is focused on early intervention and reablement by turning its system on its head.

How we got to where we are?
In the summer of 2012, the Collaborative hosted a series of events working with over 100 people, including; people who use services, peer supporters, carers, front-line staff, service managers and commissioners. Together, we explored the challenges of delivering services for those experiencing acute mental distress and worked collaboratively to design a new approach; the Living Well Network, which describes a range of new ways of supporting people that we are seeking to develop together.

We have already tried it at small scale
In October 2012, we created a team of people from across services including peer supporters, to test the Living Well Network approach with 10 people with a range of needs. This was called a prototype and it helped us learn about what worked and what didn’t, but more importantly it showed the value of growing a Living Well Network.

Provisional Service Specification
This provisional specification is the product of 9 months of co-design work (since May 2012) by the Lambeth Living Well Collaborative (the Collaborative) involving significant contribution from people who use services. It should be seen within the context of the Collaborative striving to apply the principles of co-production to the commissioning and delivery of services and support for people who experience mental illness; Co-production is the way we want do things in Lambeth!

Please click here to read the specification.

We need you to help us make this happen.
For the Living Well Network to grow we need everyone to become an active part of it; after all, together we are the network. You can help by coming to our Collaborative sessions, coming to our recovery and support training sessions, downloading and using the tools on our website and most importantly by beginning to see yourself and act as part of the Living Well Network.

We will be having collaborative sessions in May/June with a focus on the North of the borough. If you would like to find out more about these sessions please email Natalie.sutherland2@nhs.net to be added to the distribution list.
